City Council Minutes and Job Opportunities Administration Interface

The software developed for this project gives city employees the ability to update the city web site with the most recent council minutes and job opportunities, without knowledge of HTML or Web authoring tools. City employees use a browser-based administration interface to enter council minutes and current job opportunities. Visitors to the city Web site use a browser-based interface to view and search for council minutes and job opportunities.

The Web site software consists of a public interface and an administration interface. Administators perform all data entry using browser-based input forms. Uploaded data is stored in an Access database. The public interface accepts selection criteria and displays qualifying information in the database.

Administration Interface

The sample pages shown below give you a feel for how the administration interface works. To access this interface, users must sign on through a login page. The list and detail pages for meeting minutes and job opportunities work similarly. Only the meeting minutes maintenance pages are show here.

Administration interface features include:

City employees can update the Web site with no knowledge of HTML. If they do know HTML or know how to use a visual editor, they can paste formatted meeting minutes into the administration site.
For consistency, city employees select job titles from a drop down. Job title maintenance features (add/edit/delete) are available in the administration site.

This page lets users modify meeting minutes. Users can paste plain text or HTML into the minutes field.

Public Interface

The public interface lets visitors to the City of Sandpoint site see what jobs are currently available and review the most recent city council meeting minutes.

Public interface features include:

Site visitors can search for job opportunities by job title.
The public site automatically displays only the job opportunities that are still accepting applications, based on the application closing date.
Site visitors can search for meeting minutes by meeting date and keywords found in the meeting summary.

Site visitors can search for and select meeting minutes.
